Where does my dad live. Here is a picture of his house. Nice? No. It is in need of cleaning and repair.

Santa Monica Apartment

In 1972 Joan and I lived in Santa Monica. I worked in Westwood and Joan at Santa Monica Hospital. Since my sister moved to Santa Monica I would wonder where our old apartment was but I never found it. I just did. Here is it near the corner of Wilshire and 24th.

Chuck's Birth Place

On my trip to California, a new route from Santa Monica to Calimesa took my right by Chuck's birthplace. He was born in Huntington Memorial Hospital a 'few whiles ago' as he used to say.

Opera Today

Joan and I went to see the opera in Denver today, 2:00pm.

Gaetano Donizetti’s amusing tale of deception and disguise is transported to the wild west of America in the 1800’s. This rousing version, which has toured to rave reviews across the US and Canada, hits Denver in perfect time to keep the theme of the National Western Stock Show momentum going strong!

Don Pasquale's nephew, Ernesto, refuses to marry the woman his uncle has selected for him, choosing instead the poor widow Norina. Don Pasquale decides to marry and disinherit his nephew, which leads to a comedy of errors as Ernesto and Norina trick the Don into letting them marry. Set in the Wild West of America in the 1800's the staging was a great success Joan and I thought.

Perfect Day at the Denver Zoo

Yesterday, was a perfect day to visit the Denver Zoo. The weather was in the high 50's and the sun was visiting. We picked up Cameron and drove to Denver. The zoo is a perfect place to take him as there are barriers protecting the animals from Cameron so he can run all over and that he did. He kept us going.
His language communication is progressing; he is more understandable and there were moments that I think he was reading signs.
All in all it was a fun day.
Here are more pictures.

Team Podolak's Visit

Andrea and Chuck visited us the weekend. They arrived on Friday night. We had a late light dinner. The following day Daniel and Annie brought Atticus to play. Our old friend Wes Geary showed up. We ate a great meal prepared by Joan. After Atticus tired out, the five of us walked downtown Boulder. That evening, I cooked one of Mike's great Salmon filets. Annie came back for dinner. Sunday Chuck and Andi drove to Colorado Springs to visit friends, pay their respects at the Air Force Academy and then off to dinner in Denver. Monday morning they went to visit Annie and Atticus.
Some shots may be found here.

Cozy Family Time

A visit from Annie and Atticus today. We just want to show off our charming family.

My Breakfast with Victor

Victor and I had breakfast at the local bagel shop, Big Daddy’s, and I heard it all. Joan stopped by to hear more than all. Victor, who incidently was known to Paul Leaf as a grade school boy in Brighton Beach (and when they met a few years ago, Paul reconfirmed his original opinion ), I have known for 23 years. He has been a Colorado chess champ and has met Bobby Fischer. Victor is a semi-retired insurance salesman; he told me he sold money. He arrived in Boulder on his way to LA and decided to stay. He did marry with three sons and one daughter. Two of his children have died young; his daughter died of an illness and one son died in a home improvement accident in Gustavus Alaska. Victor currently splits his time between Boulder and Las Vegas.

Shed Saga

Joan has found a need for more private space. After all, Mike has 3,000 square feet and we have only 1,000. To address that I am converting our crumbling shed into a retreat for her. I have wired it and am in the process of finishing the interior. I have begun by insulating the interior. I will then install wallboard and a new floor. To that I will add a nice door and replace one pane of glass. I hope to have it done by spring.
By posting this I am on notice to finish it.
